Under Construction

OOPS!  I'm trying to spruce things up a bit....and I'm stuck in the process....please forgive the hard-to-read colour combo, I'll try to fix it as fast as I can!

Jolly Good

Today I set up the Jolly Jumper.  I wasn't entirely sure if Finn was ready for it but I figured that since we had it, I might as well see what he could do.  I think the picture speaks for itself....

Bummin' Around

This morning Finn had his first appointment with his pediatric surgeon.  Dr. Leslie Scott is a wonderful woman.  Last night I was telling James how nervous I was about the appointment.  I'm not entirely sure what I thought was going to happen, but I was nervous.  Having this appointment meant that Finn was very likely going to have surgery at some point in the near future.  And while this has been a reality for about a month now (as abscesses continue to appear), it's easy to pretend that the surgery doesn't exist when you're not actually having appointments with the person who will be cutting your baby boy's bum open.  The moment Dr. Leslie Scott walked into the room, I felt better about the whole situation.  She was kind and warm and caring.  While this is something you would expect about someone who specializes in pediatrics, you just never know.  Thank you Dr. Scott for making a new momma feel much better about her baby boy having surgery.

The Little Gem

Finn is getting to the point where he has a bit more head control and is wanting to spend more time sitting up.  So I started thinking that it might be time to get him an ExerSaucer and perhaps a Jolly Jumper too, just to be prepared.  There was a mom-to-mom sale coming up on Saturday morning and I was totally pumped to get up and get there early to search out some deals on used ExerSaucers.  As the week went on, my enthusiasm, how shall we say...waned?  And I was not-so-much looking forward to getting up early.  I rather enjoy that sleepy time in bed with Finn from about 6:00 to 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. every morning.  This sale meant trying to be in London (NORTH London at that!) for 8:00 a.m....because really, if there's a good deal to be had it's not going to be there at 10 a.m. is it?!  So Friday evening as Finn was napping I decided to see what I could find on Kijiji. I always forget about this little gem.  And what a gem it was that night.  There it was.  An ExerSaucer that looked like loads of fun (and CLEAN) for a very reasonable price.  It turns out the lady had a Jolly Jumper she wanted to sell too.  Does it get any better than this?!  Finn and I quickly drove to London, picked up our finds and had everything clean by the time James got home from his night out.  And while Finn is probably still a little little for the ExerSaucer, he certainly does love it.  Oh, the fascination and concentration of trying to play with those toys!  Priceless.

Giggles

Finn started to giggle today.  And I thought that baby smiles were the greatest thing ever......I have to say that watching your baby laugh for the first time (and knowing that you're the one who made him laugh) is pretty freaking amazing!

The Beginning

Recently I have been reading some rather inspiring blogs by some rather inspiring mommas (The Little King, Kelle) . It got me thinking that it is time to start recording some of the amazing moments we have with our Finnopotamus. While I do not think that I can ever come close to being as eloquent as they are (particularly because Finnzarelli seems to have eaten all of the creativity I ever claimed to have), I will certainly do my best to create something for meaningful for Finn (and James and I) to look back on as he grows up....especially since it seems like he is ALREADY growing up so fast! It seems like not-so-long ago that he was just a Little Bit...

...and he is already getting SO big!
